Lodge meetings and events throughout the year
The Herts Scots Lodge meets at Mayflower Place 4 times per year on the 3rd Friday in February, the 4th Friday in June, the 2nd Friday of September and the 1st Friday of November (Installation).
For those Brethren who have not attended a Herts Scots Meeting before, please note that we conduct a form of Scottish Rite. The Raising ceremonies we will be working in June and September involve a form of the Traditional History, Working Tools, Tracing Boards and Signs that are unique in the province as well as laments and tunes played on the bagpipes. Our Festive Boards on such occasions involve the Selkirk Grace, and our own distinctive Tylers Toast based on Robert Burns and at Festive Board 4-course traditional Scottish meal including haggis which is piped in and addressed in true Burns style.
Third Degree
Starting at 4:30pm (by Dispensation)
We are delighted to announce that we will be Raising by request Bro. Rasvan Rizea of Welwyn Garden City Lodge No 5748 on this occasion.
We plan to put the Lodge into abeyance at approx. 5:15 and then return to labour at 5:30 to allow Brethren coming from a distance or from work to arrive before Passing the Lodge to the 2nd degree to start our Raising Ceremony.
Third Degree
Starting at 5:00pm
Our September meeting will be a repeat of the raising ceremony this time at the request of Sherrards Lodge no. 7182.
Installation
Starting at 5:30pm
This is our Installation meeting, and we are delighted to announce that our current Worshipful Master W. Bro. David Colvin will be remaining in office for a second year and therefore we will be working a Proclamation ceremony. W. Bro. David is also our Lodge Piper, and no doubt there will be some fine tunes played on that occasion.
